Application for Universities is open from 8 July 2015 until 4 October 2015.
The 11th ICC International Commercial Mediation Competition ("Competition") will take place from 5 - 10 February 2016 at ICC Headquarters and surrounding premises in Paris. The Competition will feature around 150 mock mediation sessions, as well as numerous training programs and social events.
When: 5 − 10 February 2016
Where: Paris, ICC Headquarters and surrounding premises
Who: 66 University Teams, more than 120 professionals and academics
The online application for universities opens on 8 July 2015 and closes on 4 October 2015.
We draw the applicants’ special attention to the 2016 Competition Rules. Please be mindful of the fact that by submitting an application to participate in the Competition you are indicating to the Organizing Committee that you have read and understood the 2016 Competition Rules.
When applying online, Universities must not yet identify the specific members of their Team. Further information must be provided to the Organizing Committee after the final selection of the Teams. However, all applicants must indicate with how many Students and Coaches the University will participate (minimum two and maximum four students plus a maximum of two coaches).
ICC will accept 66 Teams to participate in the 2016 Competition. The Organizing Committee will select them during two application periods.
The first application period will run from 8 July 2015 until 16 August 2015. The second application period will run from early September 2015 until 4 October 2015.
During each application period, the Organizing Committee will accept a maximum of 33 Teams.
In each application period 10 places are reserved for universities that have not yet participated in the Competition and 23 places are reserved for universities who have previously participated in the Competition.
Should places for one category not be filled at the end of the respective application period, remaining places will be offered to applicants from the other category.
Universities that have not participated during the two last Competitions (2014 and 2015), will be considered as not having previously participated in the Competition.
Within the two above categories the Organizing Committee will select Teams based on the following criteria:
- preference will be given to universities who have an ADR curriculum (special focus on mediation is an advantage);
- representation of cultural and regional diversity amongst the selected universities;
- performance in previous ICC Mediation Competitions (applies to universities who have previously participated only).
- In the event that the above-selection criteria are insufficient to make a selection between two Teams, the Organizing Committee will make a selection in its absolute discretion.
To proceed with your Team’s application, please click on the “Book Now” button on the right to commence the application process. Please note that only one application per Team is accepted.
In addition, all Teams must fill in a questionnaire about its University's ADR curriculum. Please download the document from the Related Documents section at the top right on our website. Please note that your application is only complete after having sent back the questionnaire and after having submitted your online application.
With your application you commit to pay the registration fee in case your Team is accepted to participate in the 11th ICC International Commercial Mediation Competition.
Universities Teams which wish to apply for participation in the Competition, must ensure that all students who are members of the Team meet the eligibility criteria as defined in the 2016 Competition Rules.
Once selected, the Teams will be contacted by the Organizing Committee with further instructions regarding the payment of the registration fee and the submission of further information regarding the Team members.
